Arrangements are now in place to bring in a power unit for The Sir Duncan Rice Library (TSDRL) and, following testing, we expect the building to reopen on 31 August 2015.

In the meantime the Library Team has put in place the following arrangements:

Fetching Service for Items from the Collections

Please note:

• There is now a daily fetching service retrieving items from TSDRL collections on Floors 1 to 7
• Search for the item(s) you want and place an online request at http://primo.abdn.ac.uk:1701/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do  – select Taylor Library as the Pickup Location
• If you request an item before 12 noon it will be available for collection from Taylor Library from 3pm the same day
• You will also be notified by e-mail when the item is available for collection

Room Bookings for TSDRL Rooms

All bookings for the week of 24 August have been rescheduled to alternative locations. If you have a room booked you should already have been advised of this. As a contingency alternative locations for bookings in the week of 31 August are being sourced. If you have a booking during next week you will be contacted about it. Information Point at TSDRL

Library staff will be available at an Information Point on the Ground Floor of the The Sir Duncan Rice Library 09.00 – 17.00 each weekday until the Library re-opens to help direct readers to alternative locations for services. Please note – there will be no access to the building for users or visitors (see Fetching Service above for details of how to obtain books for loan).

Return of Items on Loan

You can return items to the Taylor Library (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/library/about/taylor/ ) or the Medical Library (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/library/about/med/ ) at Foresterhill. Inter Library Loans

Fines

All fines for TSDRL loanable items incurred during the closure period will be waived.

Special Collections Centre and The Gallery

The Special Collections Centre and Ground Floor Gallery remain closed until further notice.

Nearby Classroom PC Facilities

Alternative Study Places

Printing, Binding and Reprographic Services

Thesis, dissertation and other binding and reprographic services will continue to run unaffected from the UniPrint office at 23 St Machar Drive (building no.3 on the map at    http://www.abdn.ac.uk/about/documents/OA-Campus-Map-2014.pdf ). Work previously submitted to the Print Shop in SDRL can be collected from the UniPrint office which is open from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. Students should please print off your work from an MFD in Taylor Library or computing classroom before going to the UniPrint office.

Business School Student Access to Datastream

The Datastream software has been installed temporarily on 3 PCs in the MacRobert Building (building 17 on the map at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/about/documents/OA-Campus-Map-2014.pdf), room 106 (first floor). Look out for ‘Datastream Enabled’ posters on the PCs.
