We are pleased to offer a brand new service to members of the public interested in accessing some of our major electronic resources. The Walk-in Users’ Service is available to the general public, visiting scholars, retired members of staff, school pupils and teachers, staff and students from other universities wishing to use major electronic databases for study and research purposes.
Access has been set up to most of our big full-text journal databases including JSTOR, ScienceDirect, Sage, Wiley, Springer, OUP (and more), in addition to bibliographic databases such as SCOPUS and EBSCO. For the historically minded EEBO, ECCO and Parliamentary Papers and the P&J for the 19th century are also available to search.
The service runs from a dedicated PC on the Ground Floor of Queen Mother Library. Visitors wishing to use the service must register first. They can book an hour’s slot in advance. Bookings are available to within one hour of the library closing, seven days a week. Information may be saved to a memory stick.
Conditions of use, instructions on how to use the service, and a full list of databases on offer can be found at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/library/walk-in-service/index.shtml
