To access University IT tools and facilities such as email, wireless, and online Library resources, you must have a personal IT account with an associated username and password.
Find out more about the ways in which you can use your university username and password and your student ID by watching this very short video brought to you by our colleagues in IT.
Remember to never reveal your passwords to anyone. For further information, see document: My Identity. To find out more about your password, see the Password section in Toolkit.
The IT service desk is located on Floor 1 of The Sir Duncan Rice Library and is open Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00. (Wednesdays: 10:45-17:00) There is also an IT service desk in the Polwarth Building, room 1:122 on the Foresterhill campus.
Did you know you may be eligible to borrow material from other UK University libraries? Our University is a member of the SCONUL Access reciprocal scheme. SCONUL Access grants borrowing privileges to various types of library users working or studying at participating higher education libraries in the UK and Ireland.
SCONUL Access provides borrowing privileges for most:
postgraduate research students registered for a PhD, MPhil or similar qualification
part-time, distance learning and placement students
SCONUL Access also provides for a reference only service for most full-time undergraduate students and staff of a few higher education libraries not participating in the reciprocal borrowing arrangements.
Borrowing entitlements – e.g. number of loans, loan period and types of material may vary among institutions.
Please note that access to IT facilities and electronic resources are not normally included in the scheme. You may however be able to access the wireless network on your personal device while visiting other university libraries if they use the same Eduroam wireless network as ourselves. See the university’s guide to Eduroam to learn more.

Did you know the university runs a free Wi-Fi service, which allows students and staff secure access to the internet all year round?
On campus and the university halls of residence, you can connect to eduroam. All you need, to connect your favourite devices to eduroam, is your computer username and password. Find out more about the steps required depending on the type of device you are using by visiting this page: www.abdn.ac.uk/toolkit/systems/wireless-connection/
Other wireless networks available include Aberdeen-city-connect; intended for visitors to the university (e.g. visitors on open days, events and festivals), wireless-help and UoA-Gaming.
Just remember, you must add @abdn.ac.uk to your username when connecting to our wireless networks.
