Thank You – MacMillan Coffee Morning at The Sir Duncan Rice Library raised over £500

macmillan imageStaff here at Library, Special Collections and Museums would like to say a big heartfelt thank you to all who helped to make our MacMillan Coffee Morning last Friday a grand success.

To those who slaved away at their ovens creating the wonderful baked creations that were enjoyed on the day – Thank you. To those who helped create and decorate a wonderful space in which to enjoy those creations – Thank you. And to all those selfless souls who, for the sake of a wonderful and vital charity, and at the cost of an easily given donation, bravely ate their way through cake after cake after cake, we say THANK YOU!

Thank you also to the University’s Campus Services for providing the coffee, and the tea urn, without which the scrumptious cakes would not have been so easily scoffed. Thank you.

When the last crumbs were finally hoovered up and the pennies and pounds counted we reached a grand total of £526.17. A wonderful sum to be added to all the other funds raised through the many other MacMillan Coffee Mornings taking place across the UK last Friday.

At the time of writing this, according to Macmillan’s website over £4.5 Million has been raised through these coffee mornings. And the total is still rising (baking pun intended!). That is a fantastic sum of money and an equally fantastic number of cakes.

I wonder what £4.5 Million worth of cake looks like? It probably looks like many happy crumb-flecked faces and thousands of people receiving amazing care and support during some of the most trying times of their lives, and the lives of their families. So, again, thank you to everyone who helped contribute to the great work done by MacMillan Cancer Support.

Many thanks,

The LSC&M Coffee Morning Crew
