Busy library? Extra study (and café!) spaces

Additional quiet study space is available in The Sir Duncan Rice Library from today (Monday 1 December) through to Friday 19 December. The Floor 2 Seminar Room (Room 224) which is normally used for lectures, seminars and demonstrations is now set up to provide 16 quiet study spaces during the structured revision week and much of the exam period*. Please note:

  • Wi-fi is available but there are no power sockets for laptops or other devices
  • The normal library regulations apply – no eating or drinking in the room (bottled water is the exception).

Room 224 can be used as a quiet study area throughout the pilot 24-hour opening period*. Library staff in the Floor 2 office will be able to help if there are any issues or difficulties during office hours Monday – Friday. Library staff or Security staff at the Floor 1 Information Centre or the ground floor Welcome Desk can assist in the evening and at weekends.

Extra café seating is also available so that you can take a break from your studies on the upper floors. Additional tables and chairs are now located behind the ground floor Gallery.

* The room is booked for other purposes on Thursday 11 December and will be unavailable as study space from 08.00 on 11 December through to 09.00 on Friday 12 December.
